Global industrial REIT Prologis is planning to develop a new project slated to contain up to 750k sf of space in the East Bay, at the former site of the Oakland Army Base. The first phase of the prject, called Northeast Gateway, will consist of single building with 250k sf of space.
The Base redevelopment project, called Oakland Global Logistics Center, covers over 57 acres and is on land owned by the City of Oakland and leased to Prologis under a 66-year agreement.
Prologis is looking to construct about one building a year in three or four phases. Plans for the second phase call for a 232k sf structure, to get underway in 2017. The project is bordered by Maritime St, Burma Rd and West Grand Ave.
